How to create Wi-Fi Hotspot in Windows
Suppose we have two computers and one computer connected to the network cable(LAN), and if we want internet access in both the computer then we can share internet connection from one computer to another by enabling hotspot on one computer. Suppose you are traveling by airplane or train, and if you want to access internet connection without spending more money than you can access internet connection by enabling the Wi-Fi Hotspot in the partner computer easily.
Sometimes when we use the dongle to access the internet connection, but from one dongle we can use the internet connection on one computer only. So if you want to share the dongle internet connection in two or more than 2 computer than it can be done by making the hotspot in one computer in which the dongle is connected.
Before, making a Wi-Fi Hotspot on your computer, making sure that your windows device has installed a wireless network card or not. If not, then we are not able to create Wi-Fi Hotspot on our device without the wireless network card. And if you have installed a wireless network card on your windows computer then you can make a Wi-Fi hotspot on your windows computer.
In the windows OS, Wi-Fi Hotspot can be turned ON by two methods. First, by the command prompt, and second by the Ad-Hoc wireless connection method in windows settings. Here we will create the Wi-Fi Hotspot on the windows computer using Ad-Hoc wireless connection method. Because this method is simple and here we do not need to write command in command prompt.
Step By Step Process To Create Wi-Fi Hotspot On Windows Computer
Step 1: – First of all open the control panel on your PC, then click on the Network and Internet option.
Step 2: – Then click on the Network and Sharing Center option.
Step 3: – Now click on the Set up a new connection or network option and then a new window will open on your screen.
Step 4: – After that scroll down the new window and Now click on the Set up a wireless Ad-hoc (computer to computer) network option and then click on the Next button below.
Step 5: Now you will see a new window Set up an Ad hoc network which shows some instruction to establish a connection between the host and the client computer.
According to which an ad hoc network is a temporary network used for sharing files, presentations, or an Internet connection among multiple computers and devices. And to establish a secure connection between two computer, computers and devices in ad hoc networks must be within 30 feet of each other.
And if you are currently connected to a wireless network, you might be disconnected when you set up this network. So after reading this instruction, we will click on the Next option.
Step 6: – Then we will provide a network name which will display on the other computer as Wi-Fi Hotspot. And here we will choose WPA-2 personal security type because it is more secure than other types.
And then we will enter the password to protect the hotspot from an unknown user. After configuring these setting we will check the save this network option. And then click on the Next option.
Here if you will see the results similar as given below image which means now hotspot is created on your windows device and it is ready to use.
Step 7: – And if you want to turn off the current hotspot then simply click on the wi-fi button in windows taskbar right side. And then click on your hotspot and then click on the Disconnect option as shown below. And then your Wi-Fi hotspot will be turn off.
Windows 10 An Exception
Ad hoc wireless connection method does not work in the windows 10. Because in Windows 10, there is an inbuilt option to create a hotspot. In Windows 10 we can enable hotspot by click on the Wi-Fi button on windows taskbar on the right side and then click on the mobile hotspot option. Now Wi-Fi hotspot is created on the Windows 10 and it is ready to use now.
