How to Install and Configure VMware on your PC

VMware Workstation Player allows you to run a second, isolated operating system on a single PC. Here we learn about how to install and configure VMware on Windows as well as on Linux. VMware workstation player is a free PC-based tool that allows you to run a guest operating system on the existing operating system without affecting the real OS. VMware is also an alternative for VirtualBox which also used for Virtualization. But due to compatibility issues occurred on some systems we use VMware as an alternative for virtualization.

Installation and configuration of VirtualBox we already did in previous articles with the importance of virtualization. Here we learn about the installation and configuration of VMware for Windows and Linux operated systems.

Now follow these below-given steps to install Vmware on your computer

Step 1: – First of all download VMware workstation software from the official website of VMware otherwise clicks on the above-given link to download VMware for your computer.

Step 2: – After that click on that software setup files from your computer to install VMware workstation on your computer.

Step 3: – Now a new window will be opened on your screen in this window simply click on the Next option to proceed.

Step 4: – After that, this will ask you to accept the license agreement in that tick on the checkbox I accept the terms in the license agreement option and then click on the Next option as shown in the figure.

Step 5: – After that, it will ask you for setup type in which select custom setup type and then click on the Next option to proceed. As the figure is shown below.

Step 6: – After that, it will ask you for VMware workstation features in that 2 features will be selected by default so now simply click on the Next option to proceed. As the figure is shown below.

Step 7: – After that, it will ask you for server component configuration and it will show you the HTTPS port number which is 443 now simply click on the Next option to proceed. As the figure is shown below

Step 8: – After that, it will ask you for software updates if you want to check software update every time then tick that box otherwise leave that box unchecked and then click on the Next option to proceed. As the figure is shown below

Step 9: – After that, it will ask you for a new permission simply click on the Next option to proceed.

Step 10: – After that, it will ask you for shortcuts creation on your system simply tick both the boxes and then click on the Next option to proceed. As the figure is shown below

Step 11: – After that, it will show you ready to perform the requested operations on this window. now simply click on the Continue option to proceed. As the figure is shown below

Step 12: – After that, it will show you the setup wizard complete screen here now click on Finish option to complete the installation. As the figure is shown below.

After this step the installation process was completed on your system.

Now follow given steps to Create a new Virtual Machine on your newly installed VMware

Step 13: – After the installation is completed now click on the VMware workstation shortcut icon from your system to open the VMware software on your screen.

Step 15: – After that, a new window will be opened on your screen in that simply click on create a new virtual machine option to create a new virtual machine for running a guest operating system image on your computer. As the figure is shown below

Step 16: – After that, a new window will be opened on your screen with a welcome message in it simply click on the Next option to create a new virtual machine on your system. As the figure is shown below

Step 17: – After that, it will ask you for a guest operating system installation here choose I will install the operating system later option and then click on the Next option to proceed. As the figure is shown below

Step 18: – After that, it will ask you for a guest operating system it gives you many options like Windows, Linux, etc. simply choose any operating system from it and then also choose the version of the operating system then click on the Next option to proceed. As the figure is shown below

Step 19: – After that, it will ask you for name the virtual machine now give any name to this virtual machine as you desired then simply click on the Next option to proceed. As the figure is shown below

Step 20:  After that, it will ask you for specifying disk capacity to run a new virtual machine in it and also do experiments on it then choose split virtual disk into multiple files option and then simply click on the Next option to proceed. As the figure is shown below

Step 21: – After that, in the last step, it will show you a message on the screen which asks you for ready to create the virtual machine and it will show you all the configurations which are done in the previous steps in VMware workstation on your system. Now click on the Finish option to proceed. As the figure is shown below
